Wedding!

On May 9, 2015, I married my soul mate and best friend.

The weather didn’t cooperate at all. There was constant rain, snow, cold, a canceled ballgame, and even an earthquake. But it was still the perfect day. We showed how, when supported by those who love us, we can make anything workable…and beautiful.

It was a very small celebration because we wanted something where we could be flexible. Plus, we’re both introverts. I can’t do crowds, especially when the focus is on me. This upset some people, but those who understood saw that we weren’t purposely excluding people; we were just trying to do what was right for us. It turned out to be a good thing we had so few people due to the last-minute changes we had to make on account of the weather.

My back held up quite well. I think it was the corset in the dress (and maybe the adrenaline).

(I’m including photos in this post mostly of my husband and myself. I don’t want to be posting pictures of people without their permission. Gotta respect privacy or something.)

We had the ceremony at Wasatch State Park in the mountains near Midway, Utah.
My dad walked me down the aisle, an old orchard grove of beautiful apple trees.
We had a Buddhist-inspired ceremony led by our good friend and neighbor Danielle. We wrote our own vows (which ended up being very complementary; we didn’t hear them until that moment).
Originally we planned on food and dancing in the orchard. The torrential downpour changed that. Thankfully, the Zermatt Resort had a conference room we could rent, so we moved the party there.
Our dogs, Belka and Murphy, were our ring-bearers. Our wet, cute, and happy ring-bearers. Our friend, Emily, held the leash. She was our co-ringbearer and doggy-wrangler.
First family photo.
First dance happy fun times.

My dress was an Allure c170. My mom had to customize it because it was too big.
We planned on having our reception at the Salt Lake City Bees game. It ended up being cancelled due to rain about 1.5 hours after the scheduled start date.
But we still had food there, took pictures, and had fun.
It was cold. So, I put on my monkey hat–the hat I wore when I first met Damon. And he still wanted to see me again.
